Okay, so I have a kodak easyshare 5500 all in one printer/scanner/fax combo. I ran out of ink so the red attention light constantly blinks to the point where I can’t even simply turn off the printer, I have to unplug it.

Kodak EasyShare 5500 printer deserves credit for its economical inks and focus on photo quality.Also built-in memory card slots; two host USB ports; dedicated 4×6 photo paper tray; automatic document feeder; cheap replacement ink make a good product.

I think that the kodak all in one is a rip-off. Like most corporations the interest is money and not the customer. Kodak seems to be interested in selling ink cartridges which runs out of ink faster then my car runs out of gas.

Although I dislike the concept of all-in-ones, my space and weight limitations make it necessary. I just quit buying HP inkjets ever again. Yes, they are faster and have some nice features and cartridges are easily available. BUT HP inkjet quality has gone down the tubes. I’m so tired of repairing or junking them. And every time I change model, I have to buy different cartridges and toss any backups I had for the last model. And their ink cartridges are overpriced, expecially for the amount of ink in them. They did continue to print when one of the colors — usually yellow — ran out, but coloring everything purple or printing document pages after the black ink is gone is wasteful and irritating.

I have just purchased the Kodak, a new brand for me. Yes, it is slower but the print quality is good and the ink is more reasonably priced, though a little less easy to get. Yes, it does suddenly quit printing if ink runs out, but that’s better than continuing to print with a drained cartridge. Time will tell if the Kodak holds up to my moderate usage. If it makes a year, it will have far outlasted my last 3 junky HP inkjets! I’ll trade speed for quality any day.

It’s a shame that you’ve been disappointed with the all-in-one printers.. I love mine - it fits in my small room perfectly and does everything I need it to do. Mine is a little older now, it’s an HP and was one of the originals. Perhaps the older ones are better and the modern ones just don’t perform as well? I’m a big fan of HP though.. I’ve never tried anthing Kodak
