Hi Hero,

Yes, it really depends on what you want the headphones to do. If someone is into music with cut mids, like thrash or speedcore, they'll probably want a different emphasis than someone who's into vocal pop where mids are king. That means that everyone's opinion is going to be colored by their musical tastes.

The Everglide S-500 has good, but not great, bass response. It is primarily designed for game play and to give a surround-sound type feel which is mostly bass and low-midrange frequencies. I think given your musical tastes it would be a decent inexpensive option for you. You would get better bass response if you spent $70-100 more but they've got good bass for the price.

see for me, the ONLY thing i look for is treble and bass, screw midrange. Ever since i played guitar as a teen i needed more treble; but now with speedcore, terrorcore, and gabber I can NEVER find deep enough bass. I used to have some of those big bose ones, they were good i guess but some stupid chick who was high sat on my backpack in highschool and broke them. and now i'm poor. Also it pisses me off that EVERY where i go i hear differing opinions on whether these are GOOD or BAD in terms of bass richness.

Just bought a pair for 15 bucks....I mean what do you want. The last pair of $15 headphones I bought were for my walkman back in 8th grade. Even skullcandy phones cost at least $20 these days. Worth it to not wake up the housemates I think...Better then the crap that comes with your computer or iPod. Strongly reccomend skullcandy instead. But this was just so cheap....

These headphones may or may not be good... but I'm not sure I'll ever find out. I bought a pair and they were defective (no sound in one ear). In principle, Everglide is supposed to warranty them, but getting a hold of a human being there is like nearly impossible. Their email address for techsupport (which is how you are supposed them regarding warranty issues) bounces and doesn't work! Headphones may or may not be good, but their customer service is piss-poor.

Are the little drivers powered by neodymium magnets? I noticed that the top professional headphones are.

The Everglide S-500 Professional Headphones sound just OK from your review ... I'm not sure that I'd bother buying phones that were adequate for gaming.

I'd prefer to look for headphones that handle music well, and that could also be used for gaming.

How do these headphones compare on price? They sound from your review as if they're only adequate, and if the difference is only a few dollars, i think I'd prefer to get a set that would handle music well, and also be available to use for gaming.
