The age of the fake is upon us, and sometimes the quality of the rip-off products are very close to the real thing, so much so that one often wonders where the price differential truly comes in.

Let's face it that the charged for value of a brand is sometimes exhorbitant versus the finished product that the consumer actually purchases, and especially in the area of fashion and fashion accessories, where trends come and go rather quickly it is sometimes a moot point if true value for money is offered by the original product. This leads to a ready market for cheap imitations that get discarded next season in favour of more trendy items.

Educating consumers on the differences is a good thing, which will lead to cheaper fakes being easily identified, but as for more high-end rip-offs (like some Rolex watches I've seen where even jewellers can't tell the difference) being passed off as the real thing (albeit at a really great price - which most savvy consumers are loathe to disregard, as everybody loves a bargain / good deal) I just don't know.

I saw some really cheap replica Oakleys before, but I ordered a few pairs from a place and I have to say I was impressed. They look EXACTLY like the real Oakleys. Be sure to ask them about other replica Oakley models thay have that aren't on the site. They have more than they show on their site that you can get.

I'll be sure to look out for genuine Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses ... nothing worse for a cowboy than having the right hat, the right boots, but cheap and nasty shades.

hi Frank, Good point! I need glasses too, but have gotten away with contacts for a while now, so I can wear contacts and cheap $5 drug store stand sunglasses. However, my contacts don't give me such good vision now and my doc is telling me it'll be back to glasses eventually. I think when that happens I go the dorky clip-on route also, since losing a pair of prescription Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses would really hurt! ~ Steve of limited vision but plenty of portable trade show booths

Hi Steve,

I wear glasses so I mostly use dorky clip-ons. However, if I buy an expensive set of clip-on polarized sunglasses for fishing they're almost certain to get broken or lost. Because of this, I'm not about to pay for a pair of prescription Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses.

hi Frank, Thanks for the article on fake Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses. I've been wanting to get a pair of Oakleys for a while. My problem with sunglasses is that when I buy an expensive (premium) pair I lose them in a month or so. When I buy a cheap pair (like I have now) so that I won't mind losing them, I never lose them! I think I've had my current pair of cheap sunglasses for 3 years! ~ Steve :)

Are you saying the Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses I picked up in Bali last year for $10 may not be real - they have the genuine Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses sticker on them so I thought it was worth spending the extra $5 on them - I am devastated if my Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses are fakes LOL

Your suggestions are really noteworthy. Usually almost brand replica is available in the market.Your suggestions will surely do a great benefit to all and protect them from being ripped off. Thanks!
