Digipro 8 x 6 USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen Review

While I’m not a professional graphic artist, I do like editing by hand from time to time and this led me to investigating the Digipro 8 x 6 USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen. DigiPro has a line of low cost drawing tablets that seem to fit the needs of someone like me who doesn’t need a professional level tool. Let’s see how this inexpensive digital drawing tablet stacks up.

review continued below…

As you might expect, the Digipro 8 x 6 USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen isn’t feature packed but it seems to have the right amount of features to get the job done. It comes with a Cordless Pen which is nice when you’re drawing. I’ve used old style digital drawing tablets that weren’t cordless and the cord certainly cramped ones style. The DigiPro USB Graphics Tablet comes in a few different sizes such as 4×3, 5.5×4 and 8×6.

The Digipro 8 x 6 USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen is compatible to some degree with both Windows and Mac. There are a few quirks with Mac from what I’ve heard but I’m a PC user myself. The tablet seems to work OK with Vista, well, at least as good as most hardware does once you get through all the security and setup issues. The DigiPro USB Graphics Tablet can act as a mouse substitute and, in Windows, it can be assigned additional handwriting tasks in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other applications if you wish.

One concern that I’ve seen mentioned about the DigiPro USB Graphics Tablets is that it does not like dual monitor systems. This seems like a terrible oversight to me since more and more people are using a dual monitor configuration. Hopefully this can be corrected by a simple driver update at some point.

All in all, I see the DigiPro USB Graphics Tablets as a good choice for someone who wants to dabble in digital drawing but not spend a lot doing it. It might also be fun for kids who like to draw and, given the low price, you won’t be too concerned about them treating it too roughly. If you want an inexpensive digital drawing tablet then you should consider the Digipro 8 x 6 USB Graphics Tablet with Cordless Pen.

I’ve used graphics tablets in the past, although never the DigiPro USB Graphics Tablet. I just couldn’t get the hang of them, no matter how hard I tried.

But the idea of letting the kids use it is an interesting one … maybe I’ll dig mine out from the “box o’forgotten stuff” in the junk room.

My kids have a great time using the paint program with my old graphics tablet. They all love to color and draw, and with my old Wacom tablet, they can work away to their hearts content, without necessarily running through an entire rainforest of trees, and every crayon in the box!
