Klipsch Quintet SL 5 Piece Home Theater Speaker System Review

If you’re looking for a quality, but reasonably priced, home theater speaker system the Klipsch Quintet SL 5 piece Home Theater Speaker System is a pretty good choice. Klipsch is a leading manufacturer of high-performance speaker systems and they make home theater speaker systems that cost several thousand dollars. The Klipsch Quintet SL is a more modestly price system that you can find for around $450 to $500, less if you don’t mind a refurbished or demo unit.

review continued below…

Just to cover a few basics about the Klipsch Quintet SL 5 Piece Home Theater Speaker System, each of the LCR speakers have dual 3.5 inch woofers and a .75 inch aluminum dome tweeter hooked up to a ‘Tractrix‘ horn that pushes out mid range frequencies quite well. Having the same speakers in all 3 insures a smooth transition across the sound stage. The subwoofer is a 12 inch, down-firing type, that can shake the floor and wake the neighbors.

Mounting options for the Klipsch Quintet SL 5 Piece Home Theater Speaker System are pretty good. One nice this is that the stands can double as hangers. The thin, sleek, design complements the looks of a flat screen television monitor. No clunky looks here so your ’significant other’ should be happy. The Klipsch Quintet SL is very stylish.

What I think is the strong point of the Klipsch Quintet SL 5 Piece Home Theater Speaker System is in how it pushes the mid range. I was particularly impressed by how it brought out quieter dialog in movies. With a lesser Home Theater Speaker System it seems that you must always be adjusting the volume between quiet dialog and action sequences. While action can still shake the room, you don’t have to strain to hear the dialog, at least most of the time.

The Klipsch Quintet SL 5 Piece Home Theater Speaker System is optimized for movies and video games and is excellent for the price range with these audio sources. For listening to music, the heavy emphasis on mid range frequencies might not produce the best results with all types of music, particularly for the audiophile’s ears, but it does work well for casual listening especially from XM radio, iPods and other digital sources.

I’ve been impressed with all of the Klipsch speaker systems I’ve heard ranging from small computer speaker systems up to expensive home theater setups. I think that you will find the Klipsch Quintet SL 5 Piece Home Theater Speaker System a good choice to make when you select your next home theater speaker system.

Hey Frank,
2 quick things. I just downloaded your Link Luv post builder a few minutes ago and already have a new post up on my flagship blog. Thanks - the product works great right out of the box.

The other think is about Klipsch. I have had a pair of Klipsch speakers since about 1987 (the same set). They have been with me through thick and thin and can still shake my neighbour’s windows. If the new ones are anything like mine, you can’t go wrong.

Hi Bruce,

Glad you like Link Luv Post Builder.

I use a set of Klipsch speakers for part of my computer recording setup, at least I used to. They did such a good job that I would mix to the Klipsch but the final MP3 would sometimes overpower lesser computer speaker systems.
