Razer Barracuda AC-1 Sound Card - What’s it Good At?
It used to be that PC’s had a sound card and that was that but today there are specialized sound card types, such as the Razer Barracuda AC-1 Gaming Sound Card , that is designed specifically for gaming. Razer has made a name for themselves in the pro gamer market with mice and their other gaming peripherals. Does this sound card actually provide a 38% greater degree of accuracy than other sound cards?
The idea behind the Razer Barracuda AC-1 Sound Card is that borrows an old trick, equalization or EQ, to enhance frequencies commonly used by games. This does make it more likely that you will hear and mentally process a sound in a game while you’re using this sound card. From a hardware perspective, this is, by all reports I’ve seen, a well designed and powerful moderately priced sound card designed specifically for gaming. Here are some example prices…

Another good thing that I’ve found out about the Razer Barracuda AC-1 Sound Card is that the driver is Vista compatible. If you’re stuck with Vista on your PC this will be helpful to you.
One thing that has been reported by users of this card is that it doesn’t impact the performance of a gaming system either negatively or positively. It won’t boost your frame speed or the like. Instead, it just greatly enhances your sound quality.
My concern with buying a card like this for my primary PC is how well it would work with recording music. Since this sound card includes Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS this indicates that it would work well for music although there are certainly most costly, music specific, options out there.
All in all, I think the Razer Barracuda AC-1 Sound Card would be a good choice for gamers and those who desire enhanced system sound from their PC.

Those are some fairly decent prices… especially for a sound card that is built so well…
Hi ‘Wii Fit’
I’ve been thinking about getting a new Vista compatible sound card. There are some good deals floating around like this one but I may hold out for a music specific sound card. I do have some MIDI devices that I would like to hook up to my newer computer rather than my older one.
jfc,
That is an excellent sound card. I purchased the Razer Barracuda 2 months ago and it performs excellent. Previously I was having some issues with my microphone working with onboard sound and the card cleared that right up.
Highly recommend!
