Buy.com is offering quite a deal today on the Sonic Impact 5026 Wireless FM Music Adapter, free if you use Google Checkout and that includes free shipping as well. Not a bad deal if you’re in the market for one. I don’t think this deal will last long though. UPDATE: It’s gone now. Unless you catch another good deal like this one they’re at least $10, more if you add in shipping charges. For example, see these eBay prices…
Do Wireless FM Adapters Work Well?
I’ve not had good luck trying to use these devices myself. In general, the volume and sound quality has been sub-standard, particularly when paired with MP3 players. As you may know, MP3 players, and other portable digital music players like the iPod, use compressed files. While this allows hundreds of songs to be crammed onto the device’s storage, it is at the price of sound quality. Using a Wireless FM Adapter seems to compromise the sound quality even further to me. I prefer using a cassette adaptor or a direct-in plug if at all possible. I only use a wireless FM adapter when I don’t have any other choice.
What about you? Are you satisfied with wireless FM adapters or do you prefer more direct methods?
