Hey, I resemble that remark! I've never seen anybody do that before -- what a strange thing to have happened. I can't believe that I'm notorious enough that I have Russian scammers wanting to be me.

Heck, some days I wake up and I don't want to be me!

Keep on blogging, we need you. I’ve got so much useful stuff from your blog and really value you opinion in this stuff.

I really thought I could sneak in a link to my Russian scam site by impersonating a Top Commentator on this site. Boy was I wrong! I guess my IP address will be marked as spam now, darn it!

Frank,

Regardless of what direction you take this blog in the future, you have a nice following of readers including me, so I don't think you have to worry about what direction to take it.

It wouldn't matter to me if you wrote about flagship blogs, money making niche blogs, niche blogging experiences, or your fabulous posts on using images in posts. What you do here on Optempo is written in a way not often found, so keep doing what interests you and your readers will follow.

Thanks Grizzly,

Social blogging is fun but I don't want it to become a time sink like doing a lot of political forum yakking was for me in 2003-2004.

Hi Jim,

The basic problem here on OpTempo is that I'm giving away a free 125x125 button ad to most bloggers so there is little incentive to buy ad space unless one wants to (a) support this blog, or (b) place an affiliate product ad on a low CTR widget.

Overall, the most significant problem I see with Scratchback is that it's more of a social, blogger-to-blogger, vehicle than an advertising vehicle. This is mainly due to the rejection mechanism (only approving other socially oriented blogs) and the overpricing of them in relation to the CTR and overall traffic of sites with the widget.

So why drop the ScratchBack widget? Is it not performing for you? I see it's full at $1.00. What we have found is that people who set their tips at less than $5.00 get less tips. Perception=reality. If your tip is less, it must be worth less.

I'd love to hear your more detailed feedback on why you want to drop the widget. We're having our best month ever. A big blog network just picked up using the widget and we're going to pay out more in tips this month than in the first 2 months combined.

Hi Vic,

What hurts Scratchback goes back to what you say, social referral visitors don't click on jack squat. If one relied on these visitors to click ads one would be living in a van down by the river.

As for doing trend targeting, this is something I'm going to be working on, Hillary convinced me of that. ;)

You know I never research or used ScratchBack but it seems it keeps getting added to the list. Crazy I actually came up on a blog that had a BlogRush widget LMAO I thought it would had died by now.

You know Frank with the type of ads it would be really be interested seeing what would happen if you started hitting some trends again.

Pls if you do shoot me an email with the stats ;)
