Blog Review: Station Atomica
Andy requested a Free Blog Review of his blog, Station Atomica.
So here’s the review…
What is Station Atomica?
According to the about page, Station Atomica’s Andy is “like a pasty wolf wearing a starfleet uniform I stalk from my basement den to hunt the fertile grounds of the internet for whatever stupid crap I can find”. Essentially the site features Andy’s art work and geek humor The site has been active since December of 2007.
Site Design/Theme
The theme used on Station Atomica is a three column, left and right side bars, with a white content area and brownish orange and light blue highlights and background. The site logo and other areas feature original art work that sets this blog apart.
I found navigation to be quite good with several choices for the visitor. I particularly liked the feature section that highlights the series found on the blog.
Monetization consists of Amazon affiliate links and Project Wonderful ads.
Content
Here are some articles and artwork that I thought were interesting on Station Atomica:
Field Guide to Milky Way Aliens is a humorous look at various Star Trek aliens.
A Very Special Friday Night Nerd is a pictorial salute to the original Dungeon Master who recently failed his saving throw vs. death, Gary Gygax.
Doodle Factory for 12-29-07 is a good example of the doodle artwork Andy does.
Overall
I found Station Atomica to be an entertaining geek humor blog. One improvement I might suggest would be to include additional affiliate offers for geek culture items such as comics, graphical novels and other such items. This might bring in some additional money from the site.
