Hi Steve,

The house is still fine after 6 months. There were a few warranty repairs needed, for example, the hot and cold water pipes were mixed up in one bathroom. Our concern right now is if the builder will be successful in building out and selling the rest of the subdivision. The incentives they're offering now are better than what we got.

hi Frank, If any of your readers are moving in Santa Barbara (California), our mover was Bushnell Moving. The owner is Ken Bushnell and I highly recommend him. ~ Steve

hi Frank, kudos to your "random post" feature again.
1. This article has a great title. How could I not click through wondering what these things had in common... now I know.
2. I am amazed a house can be built in 8 weeks. That is mind-boggling. Now that you've been in it for half a year, what do you think of it?
3. Your comments and link on the mover remind me of our mover. He did a great job and I recommend him to everyone anytime the subject comes up. Lesson - the best "marketing" is being the best company. Happy customers are the best salespeople you can have.
Well, back it's to work for me. Happy First of the Month!

Hi Hock,

They seem to have a pretty good project management system in place and seem to keep their sub-contractors on a tight leash.

Of course, there are a few quality issues to be resolved such as the hot and cold water being reversed on one bathroom sink and the dishwasher not being installed properly. That's why I didn't mention the builder. They have poor SEO on their website and, if I'm not satisfied with their customer service, well, guess what people will find when they Google for that company.

Nice house, Frank. Congratulations on the move! I can't believe that all it took was 8 weeks to build a new house.

Thanks Chris,

It still amazes me that this was an empty lot on December 1, 2007 and it was ready for us to move into it on February 1, 2008. It took us longer to get our move coordinated than it did for them to build the house!

Thanks Griz,

I'm getting quite a workout hauling stuff upstairs. Our last house was a smaller ranch style house.

On tuning up a site, that is one of the major advantages of using a blogging system like Blogger or WordPress rather than static HTML, updating is a lot easier.

What's weird is that I have some sites that are consistent earners and search traffic getters even with no updates for months. Others struggle to be indexed even with regular fresh content and they aren't on taboo subjects like "payday loans" either, just ordinary hobby or general consumer info. It's hard to guess what Googlebots will like and not like.
