Blog Review: Bloggers Showroom
Vince requested a Free Blog Review of the blog, Bloggers Showroom.
Here’s the review…
What is Bloggers Showroom?
According to the About page Bloggers Showroom is intended as a place to show off your blog and allow others to review it via a voting system and comments. The blog has been in operation since November 2007. I guess I get to review the review blog in this case.
Site Design/Theme
This is a WordPress blog that uses a custom template with a wide content area to accommodate screenshots of blogs and a smallish right sidebar. I found the background bitmap that shows up in the margins to be a bit distracting. It’s good branding but it really needs to be a more subdued shade.
Navigation is good. The multiple poll plugins per post seem to work OK although I’d recommend something more Web 2.0 AJAX-ish should such a polling plugin be available (I don’t know of one though).
Monetization includes Adsense and private sale ads. I don’t think Adsense would be a good choice for this blog so I’d recommend not using it unless I’m wrong and it’s making a lot (over $3 a day). The private sale ads seem a bit pricey at $50 a month. Maybe a $10-25 price would result in some sales.
Content
The content is simple, just a blog screen shot, a short description supplied by the blog owner and link with an invitation to vote in the polls for the blog. Quite an easy formula. Here are 3 such reviews:
Overall
While the content is rather lightweight, the idea of having a blog showroom is a good one. I could see this being enhanced further with better plugins in the future. Monetization is likely to be tough for this unique blog concept though.
