This is a huge barrier for me ... I write reasonably well, and I like to write. I end up spending way too much time writing what should be "fast food" copy, and then get frustrated that I don't get more finished.

I'll start experimenting with your template idea ... thanks.

Hi Robert,

I enjoy your cat blog. It reminds me of those little 99 cent booklets you can buy in the grocery store checkout line. That's another good niche blog article model because most of those booklets sell related ads.

On SU/Digg, you're right, they aren't that good for a niche blog, particularly one with Adsense. You can pull in some targeted traffic from them so if you're running BANS or some other affiliate or ecommerce site it wouldn't hurt you but probably wouldn't help that much either.

I think a lot of people don't really get the difference between social blogging and money blogging. Social blogging is all about people liking you and what you write, whereas money blogging is really about niche sites designed to hook up viewers with ads, NOT get readers.

I'm thinking in that vein that social traffic a la Stumble and Digg are actually bad, because they're just surfing. Traffic without conversion isn't useful, and in the case of Adsense, actually harmful to the bottom line. Search engine traffic denotes people looking for the contents of your page.

Thanks Don,

I'll have to see if I have an install of IE6 that I can test with. I mostly use Firefox and only have IE7 installed on my two home PC's. It did work OK about a 6 weeks ago when I tested this theme before I went live with it but I have made a few changes since then. Thanks for the heads-up.

Nice article. I like the thought of having a template as a guideline when writing post.

BTW, I'm running Explorer 6 and it's pushing your sidebar below the content.

True, thanks.
-----------------

I looked for an appropriate page to post my question, but I didn't find any, so I'll post it here if you don't mind:

What exactly is this new "Entrecard"? You have it on your site and I saw your Logo on another blog.

Is it useful for a small "social" blog? good for traffic? free?

Hi Y.S.,

What can I say, I like my retro advertising art collection. This article really needed food photos though.

The thing to remember is that not everyone online is an Internet marketer and knows what an affiliate link is, what a niche blog is and so forth. It's like a gourmet chef looking at a fast food burger and saying, "I would never eat that!" although millions of ordinary people do everyday.

I like these kinds of pictures more than the Clip art ones and the others that are old style.

With so many blogs, telling the world all these secrets, who is going to click on the %#@% Ads any more ?? :D
