Cyndi Lauper - Money Changes Everything

You know, I just get these song lyrics running through my head as I’ve been writing the Secret Guide to Social Blogging Success series so I just have to post about the song as well. In this case it’s Cyndi Lauper performing Money Changes Everything from her 2005 album The Body Acoustic.

Back in the Girls Just Want To Have Fun MTV 80’s this song was Cyndi’s 5th hit single. If you were around back then you probably saw the concert footage video of it on MTV.

In 2005 she released an album of acoustic versions of many of her hits appropriately called The Body Acoustic. On Money Changes Everything she’s joined by Adam Lazzara of Taking Back Sunday although his voice doesn’t really come out in the mix in this video version. I really enjoyed this album, although such adult contemporary fare usually isn’t my taste. Several songs from it, including this one, are on regular rotation on my MP3 player.

As for the lyric that clicked in my head, it was this one:

But everybody’s only
Makin’ plans for themselves
And you say well who can you trust
I’ll tell you it’s just
Nobody else

I’m working very hard so that I can do my own experiment; I want to know for myself whether “Money Changes Everything.”

I should have such problems!

Yes, you are correct. I do remember seeing the concert footage on MTV. We have all heard the phrase that money cannot solve your problems. I have a dear friend who has always said, “I disagree. Money can indeed solve a great deal of problems.” I tend to agree with my friend.
