Happy New Year and a New Direction for OpTempo
First of all,
Happy New Year
Thanks to all of you who’ve visited OpTempo since it went live on October 6, 2007. That’s 323 posts and 643 comments ago so it actually seems like it’s been a lot longer.
New Direction
When I originally started OpTempo I decided not to have an overall theme, that I would post whatever I ran across that I wanted to write about and go with it. This worked well during my October 200 post blitz but it probably isn’t the best way to go from here. So, I’ve decided to switch up my overall theme to one primarily focused on reviewing other sites with occasional general articles and series along the lines of Your Blog Monetization Options, Using Images In Your Posts and Big Honkin’ Ads as well as reviews and analysis of various blogging widgets and monetization opportunities.
I decided that this direction would allow me to have more time to develop various niche blog projects I’m working on while still keeping OpTempo active and a free and valuable resource to others.
In addition to the free blog reviews I’m doing now I’ll also review mini-sites, e-commerce sites and other sites. Of course, the rules about no bad neighborhood sites or auto-generated sites still apply. I’ll have the other changes to this program added to my Free Blog Reviews page sometime today.
I’ll also be expanding my Get Interviewed options as well where you’ll be able to submit your own interview style description about your site. This is a good way to jump ahead of the review queue and to get two posts about your site.
Lastly, I’ll be adding a block of 125×125 ads where you can advertise your site. These ads will be free and will be shown on a rotation basis.
That covers the changes I’ll be making over the next few days. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Am I headed in the right direction? Wrong direction? Let me hear from you.

I was planning to post something similar to this before 2007 ended, but I realized I’d rather do it January. But you beat me to it.
Like you, one of my goals this year is to experiment on different niche blogs. I’ve been reading a lot of Vic’s, Griz’s, and Court’s, so I’m going to apply what I learn. I know it’s going to be painstaking since I still have my dayjob, but I really want to succeed in this goal.
My main site (PlanetSaedel) will still be same, I mostly concentrate on self-improvement there and make sure I connect what I post to personal development — even the paid reviews that I’m planning to write.
Having said all that, good luck to both us, and I hope 2008 will be a fruitful one to us bloggers.
