Hi James,

Your post got thrown into moderation since it had text that would get converted to links in it. I fixed them up.

I had tried out Fireworks a while ago but I was learning Photoshop at about the same time and stuck with it instead.

Thanks for the extra sources for graphics.

Great post!

Adding images really does add a level of richness to posts. I've started to do this a lot more, even though I'm not much of a graphics designer.

My three favorite resources are...

Macromedia/Adobe Fireworks (I use Studio MX '04)
Morguefile - Royalty free ($0) images (mostly photos)
iStockphoto - Royalty free ($variable)images (photos, vectors, wallpaper, icons, etc)

So far, I've found that posts that include a relevant image tend to get more attention. I don't have exact figures, but the comments and links are testament enough.

Hi Fabien,

Edge effects are good for getting away from the typical squared edges. I've seen this used in a few magazines so I thought I'd try it too.

It looks like you've got a good series on traffic you're getting started on your blog. It should be interesting.

Great Post Frank,

I really like the idea of using the edge effect to blend it in with the content because it really works like a charm. Your blog is just growing so rapidly, I am finding it hard to keep up...hehehehe, hopefully one day we meet up in the Alexa 10,000 or less!

Bye for now Amigo!
Look forward to more posts from you,

Subscribing via Google Reader right now,
Talk soon,

Hi Brian,

I'll be checking your site to see how you integrate that top level image.

The Visionary theme sort of forced me into using pictures since it requires a 75x75 thumbnail for all posts and a 300x175 for featured posts. With my old theme I rarely used pictures. Since I wanted to go with more of a magazine feel it seems to work well so far.

Thanks for the link! This is a great article. For me, I'm all about perfectionism - I'm not perfect but I like things to look consistent. While I don't have very many images in my post (so far), my goal is that for all of my new posts coming up I will put a 500x60 image at the top. It fits into my post, yet as people read more and more of my articles, they will see the image size consitency. While it may be a waste of time, I think a great point for you to address is the size of the images and how different dimensions can convey different meanings.

I hope that made sense.
