John Doe - An Interview with a Punk Rock Legend
Here’s a great interview I ran across on YouTube of John Doe from the seminal west coast punk band X.
You can read more about the interview and hear more of his music on the Sundance Channel page about the interview.
I’ve been listening to his music since my college days when a friend of mine ordered the X album Los Angeles from an underground record shop in LA. His current album, “A Year In The Wilderness”, has a folk country feel to it but still has a tough punk feel underneath, kind of like Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard have.
He’s also an actor and has an impressive resume, including films like The Good Girl, Brokedown Palace, Road House and Great Balls of Fire!.
Like most punk artists, I enjoy their music and spirit although I rarely find myself agreeing with them politically, probably because being a leftist is kind of a cliche for a musician.
