Blog Review: Top5News
Tapan requested a Free Blog Review of the blog, Top5News. So here it is…
What is Top5News?
The about page doesn’t say much about authorship but it does say the site is about latest breaking news.
Site Design/Theme
The site is located on WordPress.com and uses the Andreas09 theme, a 3 column theme with right and left sidebars.
Navigation is fine, using category and tag article selectors. The sidebar also features a Flickr Photos and a Meebo widget.
There is no monetization since this isn’t allowed on WordPress.com although the blogroll contains a link to a site selling SEO services.
Content
The content is mostly regurgitated news articles that you would find on any of the major news sites. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything very original about what I found on the site. The articles are presented well with graphics ‘borrowed’ from news sites, although this raises the question of copyright issues.
Overall
Top5News, when it comes down to it, isn’t much of a blog. While you can blog about current events, simply copying a news story isn’t going to cut it. If the blog is intended to improve the ranking for the site selling SEO services, there are several better ways to link build than this.
