What is Search Engine Panel?

There is no About page on this blog so all we’re left with is the tag line: “Discussions on search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM).” There are only 10 posts as of this writing which barely qualifies this blog for a free review.

Site Design/Theme

This site uses a version of the default WordPress Kubrick theme. It’s very, very, dull looking. It’s the kind of site that people will assume is dead and will move on quickly. This site really needs a better theme.

With only 10 posts and all of them being displayed on the front page, navigation is a non-issue at this point. It should be OK for the future based on the current sidebar layout.

The social bookmarking widgets are a bit overpowering in the sidebar. I’d recommend cutting these way back. Only a few are really needed.

There doesn’t appear to be any monetization at all on the site.

Content

10 posts isn’t much content and what content is there isn’t very compelling. Most of it repeats what you’ve probably heard in the SEO realm for quite some time. Overall, the content has to branch out and become more personalized before this blog will gain any traction.

Overall

This site is in desperate need of a makeover. My main recommendations are to first find a better theme, one that isn’t sleep inducing dull. Next, work on improving the content by using graphics and more engaging text. Find ways to build visitor interest. I’d highly recommend reading Courtney Tuttle’s blog and Maki’s Dosh Dosh to get ideas on how to improve in these areas.
