Joscho Stephan - Django’s Tiger

I listen to a lot of different styles of music but they usually have one thing in common, excellent guitar playing. Here’s Joscho Stephan performing the Gypsy Jazz number Django’s Tiger.

Now that’s some excellent guitar playing. To see and hear more about him, take a look at his website: Joscho Stephan.

Gypsy Jazz started in French nightclubs in the 1920’s. Guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stéphane Grappelli really brought the style to the forefront in the 1930’s. Reinhardt was particularly extraordinary since he had very limited use of two fingers on his left hand due to an injury. It’s a very difficult style to play well due to the speed and the level of improvisation required.
