Neko Case - Furnace Room Lullaby
This music video is of Neko Case performing Furnace Room Lullaby from the soundtrack of the movie, The Gift. Scenes from the movie are intermixed with alt-country singer.
Neko Case said on Austin City Limits, “I wanted to write a murder ballad, simply because I was such a huge fan of the Louvin Brothers. Not that this song is anywhere as good as a Louvin Brothers song, but I tried.” I found this song’s haunting lyrics vocals quite on par with some of the Louvin’s music.
As for the movie, The Gift, this supernatural thriller is well worth seeing, and not just because Mrs. Tom Cruise appears topless in it. My only complaint about it is the overuse of some Southern Gothic stereotypes but, other than that, it’s a decent thriller.
