United States Marine Corps 232nd Birthday
Today is the 232nd Birthday of United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi Devil Dogs!
The Marine Corps was founded on this day, November 10th, in 1775 when the Continental Congress commissioned the raising of 2 battalions of Marines. They picked the right place to do the recruiting, a tavern.
Since then the Marines have led the way in every conflict the United States has been involved in around the world.
What does it mean to be a Marine? Here’s a link to one of my favorite quotes on it by Martin E. Shapiro-RVN 1965/66, 1st Bn., 9th Marines, To Be A Marine. Remember, there are no "ex-Marines", other than those who’ve been dishonorably discharged, no "former Marines", they’re just Marines, period.
GoDaddy’s Bob Parsons, who is also a Marine, put together this tribute to the Marines. Check it out.
