Hi Coffee,

Of the ones listed above I'm still using Akismet, All-in-One SEO, Brian’s Threaded Comments, Contact Form ][, Dagon Design Sitemap Generator, No WWW, Page Redirect, Random Posts, Viper’s Video Quicktags and WordPress.com Stats. I've also added Random Blogroll, from the same author as Random Posts, and Ad Rotator.

Hi Frank,

It's always neat to see what plugins a good blog uses. kinda like checking what's under the hood of a nice car. I would like to emphasize the importance of All in One SEO and related comments. If there are any new bloggers here, these two are where you should start if you want to eventually rank. They are both easy to use, I have never had any trouble with these plugins. I also use the same Comment Form, couldn't be easier to use. Plugins are one of the reasons I absolutely love working with wordpress. I used to build regular old websites back in the mid-nineties, I think I may resume that work but solely build Wordpress sites.

I stretched out the inner content area on the CSS and that seems to have taken care of it. I had to run my son off his computer (my old one) that still has IE6 installed to do some testing.

You're welcome, Frank.

It looks much better now. No more wrapping.

Yes, I suppose it's high time for me to change to IE7.

Cheers!

Hi LPF

Thanks for stopping by.

The site renders fine in IE7 and Firefox 2.0. I'll have to check it again in IE6. It did render OK in IE6 when I first started the site but I've added a few things since then. Perhaps the TopSpot widget broke it.

I would recommend upgrading to either IE7 or Firefox though. IE6 has several rendering issues and security issues that aren't present in newer browsers.

Great blog! What a joy to read well-written posts with good grammar and correctly-spelled words.

And this has been a helpful post, thanks.

However, your pages seem to have a layout problem.

For this page, e.g., the column of widgets from TopSpots to Blog Rankings are below the Archives listings, but hugging the left side of the screen and superimposed over the left sidebar separator line.

There are large expanses of empty space below the Comment box.

I find that about half the blogs I visit, including several top blogs, have this kind of jumbled layout.

My browser is IE6. That's partly the cause, I think. But I don't want to change my browser just to correct this problem.

I suspect the main cause is the sizes, widths specifically, of some of the widgets. Too wide a widget, and the whole column wraps.

You probably need to tweak some of the configurations in the style sheet.

Regards.
