iPhone Posts Bring Out the Sploggers
Sploggers, you gotta luv ‘em.
You may think it’s funny that I’ve got 3 iPhone posts in a row. Well, it’s an experiment in action.

I noticed that within minutes of my first posting I had several trackback comment spam posts arrive that Akismet caught. So I thought it would be interesting to see what would happen if I posted another iPhone article. Just like clockwork, a few more came in within minutes of the post. I wonder how many will show up for this post? I’ll post a follow-up in a comment.
I’m not a big fan of requiring CAPTCHA for posting comments but I would like to hear from anyone who’s using it in their WordPress blog. Do you think it helps? Does it prevent the occasional false positive that you occasionally get with Akismet? Does it help or hurt site performance? Which CAPTCHA plugin do you use? Any insight into this would be appreciated.

As expected, 3 attempted splog trackbacks within 5 minutes of posting from “Here’s a quick excerpt” scrappers.

Since I use automated comment spamming software with Markoved text I didn’t have a clue that my comment would be hijacked and pointed to someone else’s site. Boy was I stupid! No linkie for me, even if nofollowed. I’m just lucky Frank didn’t Akismet me but I’m sure someone else will.
