Johnny Cash - Hurt
This is one of my favorite songs by the Man in Black, Johnny Cash, his version of 9 Inch Nails Hurt
I find it a very intense performance. Almost all of his are but this one, being so near to the end of his life and being such a dark song, packs almost overwhelming emotion.
I agree with you — this song is absolutely extraordinary, and the video is stunning. The moment when June Carter Cash looks at him as she is standing on the stairs is just heartbreaking.
I’ll be honest, I never was a huge Johnny Cash fan because I’m not that into country music. I can “appreciate” his music, but I don’t necessarily enjoy it. But his trio of albums late in his life, which were made up almost completely of cover versions including “Hurt”, have a treasured place in my collection.
He is very good. I m not that big fan of indie rock but Cash is awesome.
