Prince Hates Dancing Babies?
Apparently Prince doesn’t like cute babies dancing to his songs in 30 second YouTube clips and spends a good part of his day scouring the Internet for such evil music pirates like this little guy.
Here’s an article about it on ABC News: The Home Video Prince Doesn’t Want You to See
It’s good that the Electronic Freedom Foundation has agreed to fight this case on behalf of the family who posted a short, cute, clip for friends and family. The funny thing is that before Prince and Universal decided to be jackasses the simple 30 second home video had 20 something hits but now it’s nearing 130,000.
Sure, they have the right to request a DMCA takedown of material like this. However, it doesn’t mean acting on it is a good idea. Threatening someone over a short clip with a CD playing in the background in what’s obviously a personal home video is just dumb. Copyright laws need serious revision that allows such personal use to be covered by blanket licenses while protecting the rights of artists to earn money from their work and to control commercial use of their material.
What do you think about this?

Yes, Prince does hate dancing babies.
However, Michael Jackson rather likes them.

Eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhh!
I don’t understand why Prince is so concerned about this kind of thing, but he seems to have quite a reputation for chasing down copyright “violations” online. (Yes, I know that this really is a violation, but gosh, it couldn’t be much more minor, could it?)
Hi Refurb,
It was a ‘Minor violation’
One thing to remember about a lot of older recording artists is that they aren’t comfortable with technology, in fact, they’re afraid of it. They didn’t grow up with computers and spurned educational opportunities where they might have been exposed to them.
