John Edwards, John Kerry’s Vice Presidential running mate in 2004 and now a 2008 Presidential candidate, doesn’t want you to see this video.
Why? Probably because it shows that he’s yet another elitist politician who wants to tell us "great unwashed" how we should live while he enjoys a $6 million mansion and places his campaign HQ in an exclusive part of town. His "Do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy is one of the most annoying attitudes a politician can adopt.
Here’s a story about this incident: Edwards’ staff tussles with UNC journalism school
To be fair, maybe it is just his staff that’s doing this and he didn’t know that they were causing him to look like a rich jerk trying to censor a bunch of college journalists. If so he should sack whoever did this. They obviously don’t have his best interests in mind even if their intentions were innocent. However, I’ll bet he’ll try to sweep this under the rug and pretend like it didn’t happen. Thanks to the Internet, it may not go away though.
The Republicans’ Achilles heel in 2008 is the high level of incompetence and arrogance in the White House over the past 8 years. The Democrats’ weakness is this kind of elitism and strong arm tactics to protect their message from potentially negative Internet buzz that will alienate them from ordinary voters.
What do you think?
