Jacob, I agree with you completely about needing a certain amount of sleep; like you, I don't do well on a short night's sleep. However, I'm quite the opposite in the other regard -- I much prefer to get up early and get to work early, because by late evening my brain has pretty much become a bowl of vanilla pudding.

There's no doubt that my emotions, and my stress level, get driven much closer to the edge when I'm tired ... and I prefer to get a normal amount of sleep, between 7 and 8 hours if possible.

The problem we have in our home is that work & school obligations force us out of bed very early, around 5:15 am, while by nature I'm more of a night owl. My most productive time of day is often between 9:00 pm and midnight. At some point, the math doesn't add up, I run out of hours, and I just get miserable.

Hi Mike,

For some reason Akismet thought your comment was spam. Strange. Maybe it does some sort of topic vs. comment analysis or something.

The way to get a spurt of 1000-2000 hits a day is social media/bookmarking sites, both huge mainstream ones like Digg and StumbleUpon as well as the larger niche ones. This is, of course, about 96% one time traffic and the next day you're back down to 'normal' but each one helps you build traffic over the long term.

Hey I was just checking out your site. Pretty cool site. Looks like your doing really well for just starting it. You said it isn't very hard to get between 1k and 2k uniques a day. What sources are most of your traffic coming from? Also what methods are helping you to acheive that. I just started my site and any pointers would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Michael
