Why Isn’t My Blog Growing? 5 Things You May Be Lacking.
That’s the question that many bloggers ask, including myself. Here are some reasons I came up with.
1. Lack of Desire
Maybe you don’t want your blog to grow. That’s fine. Not everyone wants or needs to have a big money making blog. That’s the great thing about blogs they can be as big or as small as you want. If you want a big time blog you’ve got to do the things necessary to make it big. If you don’t want to do that, then learn to be content with being small. Remember, it’s what you want, not what somebody else wants, that matters.
2. Lack of Goals
So, you do want a blog that gets a lot of visits and subscribers, one that makes a lot of money. Have you committed to goals and objectives that will allow you to reach them or are you just drifting, hoping something will catch on? Put you goals, both short and long range, in writing and work every day toward achieving them.
3. Lack of Focus
OK, I’ve got a blog here that’s isn’t really about any specific single subject and I’m taking about focus?!? That’s right. Focus doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be laser targeted on a particular topic, although it could. What you have to do is stay focused on your goals. Is a particular post helping you reach your goals or distracting from them? Are you trying to juggle too many projects at once? What is pulling your attention away from your goals?
4. Lack of Promotion
What are you doing to promote your blog? I know from experience that you can write a good article but unless you promote it that article will only be seen by a few people. You have to be a tireless promoter for your blog and you have to study how to do it the right way. I know I’ve still got a lot to learn in this area. However, I’ve been able to use some of the techniques I’ve learned on this site and I’ve been amazed by the results.
5. Lack of Perseverance
This is another big one. The Internet is littered with dead blogs that have a few ambitious articles and then nothing. Some there may be a spurt of articles here and there but nothing consistent. Sticking with it is what separates the successful blogs from those that never got off the ground.
Do you have any of these things lacking in your blogging? Do you have any others you would like to add? Leave a comment and let me know.

#4 is the killer. You can spend 24 hours a day trying to promote a blog and it still seems like it is not enough.
Thanks for stopping by DayJobNuker
For some reason Akismet marked your comment as spam. That’s annoying.
Promotion is the toughest part since so much of the success of it is external to what you do. You can promote like crazy and still have nothing.
In the past I have been guilty of all of these. My enthusiasm just seems to burn out. I am really finding that setting attainable goals is making a difference this time.
Me too.
#4 is really being brought home to me today. A post that only got about 10 hits in its previous incarnation on a blog I didn’t promote has gotten over 1500 hits today. I’m just stunned at what good promotion can do.
very interesting, but I don’t agree with you
