Lucas told The Los Angeles Times he has “just begun work” on the series, which will not include the films’ major characters Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader
Lucas wouldn’t reveal details, but joked that the series would be about “the life of robots.”
I guess it’s about time for another space drama series to hit the airwaves. However, that robots quote has me worried about it when I remember the cute robot plague of 80’s Sci-Fi TV shows. One of the founding principles of my favorite Sci-Fi show, Babylon 5, was “No Cute Robots!”. Given Lucas’ history of annoying robots and cutesy aliens I suspect that we’ll see them in this series as well.
What I’d like to see would be an ensemble cast in a serious, rather dark, space drama with a well defined story arc with nothing cute or annoying. Basically, Babylon 5 in the Star Wars universe.
