Build Success By Setting Daily Goals
One of the challenges I have with this blog is that I’ve set the daily goal of having at least 10 good new posts. It is tougher than it looks since it means finding good stuff to write about or good pictures or videos to post on a very regular basis. The important thing though is that I’m setting a daily goal. This helps keep me focused on my larger goals without feeling overwhelmed and feeling like giving up.
When setting daily goals it has got to be something that’s achievable but not so easy it’s a slam dunk. I picked 10 posts a day as my goal. I knew that I had to find something that I could accomplish consistently. I had thought about a higher number at first but I settled on 10 because as I began I realized this would work best for what I want to do.
The second part of daily goal setting is not set them totally in stone. Be flexible. Don’t beat yourself up if you’re short one day. You will have a better day tomorrow. The only think that you have to do is get out there again and make the effort.
Often just the sense of making progress and having small accomplishments on a daily basis will serve to push you further toward your long range goals. As this blog nears the point of 50 posts in 5 days of operation it seems amazing to me that I’ve been able to assemble this much material in such a short amount of time. If I had looked at it like, “50 quality posts in 5 days, I could never get all that done!” Instead I looked at it as 10 post per day. By breaking it down this way it seemed more possible to do.
The last point is to write them down. Commit to them where you can see them and everyone else can too. This helps hold your feet to the fire to get the job done. You don’t want to let yourself down or the people who’re cheering you on.
In your own business, blogging, school, or whatever, what are your daily goals? Have you written them down? Are they the right size, not too big or too little?
